We are seeking a GP Registrar to undertake an Extended Skills Post in Digital Health, providing the opportunity to develop specialised skills in the integration of digital technologies into primary care. The registrar will work collaboratively with clinical, IT, and operational teams on initiatives such as telehealth, electronic health records, remote monitoring, digital triage, and data-driven models of care, while developing clinical leadership skills to support digital transformation and innovation in general practice.

This is a Part-time fixed term opportunity for 2026.2 for RACGP Registrars in their GPT4 and above, based in Melbourne

Role Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clinical and non clinical teams to support the design, testing, rollout and continuous improvement of digital health and virtual care solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and lead or support projects that trial and evaluate technology-enabled solutions to address clinical and operational challenges.
  • Provide clinical input into AI enabled decision support tools, as well as the development and refinement of virtual care policies and evidence-based guidance.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT), digital audits and quality improvement activities, including evaluation of telehealth, remote monitoring and digital triage initiatives.
  • Analyse system and project data (including clinical outcomes, usage and user feedback) to identify improvements in workflows, patient safety and service delivery.
  • Support the development of training materials, resources and change initiatives to assist clinicians in adopting new digital systems and models of care.
  • Present project updates, evaluation findings and recommendations to stakeholders, while maintaining ongoing professional development in digital health, AI and emerging healthcare innovations.

What you will bring to the role

  • Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA, and enrolment in the Fellowship program of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
  • Demonstrated interest in digital health and the application of technology to improve patient outcomes, clinical workflows and health system sustainability.
  • Experience contributing to quality improvement, research, or digital health initiatives, with the ability to evaluate and apply evidence-based approaches.
  • Proven ability to identify clinical or operational challenges and contribute to, or lead, innovative and technology enabled solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with a demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and learning.
