A culture with heart

You can’t be half-hearted when it comes to healthcare. From day one, Bupa has always been about providing easy access to the best possible care. Today this passion is reflected in everything we do. It’s why we always aim to be there for all those moments that matter in the lives of our people, our customers and the community. It’s the very reason we pull together and draw from our diverse life experiences – to ensure we’re all in better shape for the challenges of tomorrow.

Celebrate Wear it Purple Day and be the change

Our culture in action

Our culture is brought to life by our people, in everything they do. This shows up in the way we truly listen to understand, so we can passionately advocate for our customer’s needs. It’s how we make things easy, simplify the complex and always act as a helping hand; working together to deliver the best value, outcomes and experiences.

But we’re also big on the small things. It’s the way we welcome every new person or customer. The buzz we bring to our offices, stores and clinics; and the warmth we create in our care homes. The way we strive to be extraordinary in the eyes our customers through every interaction.

Customer care during COVID

When COVID-19 hit we knew we had a responsibility to care for our customers by putting them at the heart of our decisions.

For this reason, in April 2020 our Health Insurance team invested over $50M and created the hardship team to support our customers when they most needed it.

Ban the asterisk

Our customers have told us that our products can be confusing and complex when we add an asterisk (*) with fine print in our policies. To respond to our customers’ needs, in 2020 the Product Design Squad was created to make our products simpler, more relevant and personalised. Here’s how putting our customers at the heart of everything helped the team ban the *.

Kindness and empathy goes a long way. In my role as a Retail Store Leader I believe the key to make a difference in people’s lives is in the small things. Listening to our customers, welcoming them with open arms and a smile, Doing our absolute best to help them with their enquiries, going above and beyond to let them know how much we value them and how important they are for us.

Marcella Store Leader

I love how Bupa is real about putting the customer at the heart of what we do and acting on our word. It makes a big difference when you work for an organisation that isn’t just about making profit and pleasing shareholders.

Eric Head of Digital Service

It's like being part of a team, someone is always there for support when needed. Bupa values their staff. My role is to look after the staff and ensure that we have staff to look after the residents, this plays a big part on the home and the relatives, so they can rest easy that their loved ones are being cared for in the manner that they expect

Sharon Business Administrator

Gaining the trust from customers where they will have the absolute peace of mind knowing we will be there for them when they are most vulnerable. Giving them the advice and care when they need it the most.
