You might know us a health insurer, but we do so much more! Today, more than 2,500 clinicians (including 500 doctors) provide Bupa health services, including general practice and allied health, dental, optical and audiology, visa medical checks for the Australian Government, and services for Australian Defence Force veterans and personnel.

Now, we want to play an even bigger role in improving the long-term health of all Australians. We’re operating and building a network of Healthcare Centres to help people access GP and multi-disciplinary primary care services from the experts they trust, all under one roof.

About the Opportunity

As Medical Director, you will play a key role in ensuring our Healthcare Centres deliver exceptional clinical care while positioning Bupa Healthcare Centres as a preferred place to practice. Acting as a strong advocate within the Primary Care industry, you will work closely with the Director of Healthcare Centres to foster a high-performing clinical environment. This includes building strong relationships with GPs and healthcare professionals, supporting talent acquisition and onboarding, and driving clinical innovation with the backing of our wider team.

  • Align clinical services with business objectives, contributing to the organisation’s growth strategy.
  • Shape ways of working to bring the Clinical Value Proposition (CVP) to life, ensuring GPs have the right tools, technology, and support.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with GPs and healthcare professionals.
  • Act as a key escalation point, addressing clinician concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Oversee the onboarding of new clinicians, ensuring a seamless integration into Bupa Healthcare Centres.

About You:

  • Vocationally Registered with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), with broad primary care experience.
  • Unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Strong professional standing and industry credibility.
  • Collaborative mindset, with experience in a matrix environment preferred.
  • Exceptional influencing, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven project management and business implementation experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience engaging corporate clients and senior stakeholders.
