The purpose of this role:

The Commercial Analytics Specialist is a high-impact role sitting within the Commercial Finance team, responsible for combining deep technical expertise with commercial insight to support strategic and operational decision-making across the business.

This role goes beyond traditional reporting. You will partner closely with senior stakeholders to solve complex business problems through data-driven insights and commercial analysis. Working closely with leadership, you will play a key role in supporting strategic business initiatives, identifying opportunities for improvement, and driving commercial decision-making through meaningful analytics and reporting.

Using advanced Power BI capability, commercial acumen, and strong stakeholder engagement skills, you will transform complex operational and financial data into clear, actionable insights that drive understanding, performance improvement, and informed decision-making.

You won’t just build reports - you’ll help shape decisions by translating data into meaningful commercial insight.

How will you help?

• Enhance commercial analytics capability by delivering scalable, automated, and standardised reporting solutions that identify key focus areas, risks, opportunities, and actionable insights
• Partner with senior stakeholders to solve complex business problems through data-driven insights and commercial analysis
• Extract, consolidate, and interpret operational and financial data from multiple sources to expand and enhance existing analytics capability
• Develop interactive and executive-ready reporting solutions using clear, intuitive, and impactful data visualisation techniques
• Optimise reporting performance through best practice Power BI development, including advanced DAX optimisation, data modelling, and performance tuning
• Support high-priority and time-sensitive analytical requests, translating complex analysis into clear narratives and recommendations
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, automation, scalability, and self-service capability across the business
• Collaborate with both technical and operational stakeholders to ensure analytics solutions are accurate, relevant, and aligned to business priorities
• Support the adoption of self-service reporting solutions through documentation, stakeholder engagement, and end-user training
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, curiosity, and commercially focused problem-solving

What you’ll need to make it possible:

To succeed in this role, you will bring significant experience across business intelligence, analytics, reporting, or commercial insights roles.

You will have demonstrated experience building scalable Power BI solutions in complex enterprise environments, including advanced DAX optimisation, data modelling, and performance tuning. Advanced capability in Microsoft Power BI, DAX, Power Query, SQL, ETL processes, and report design is essential.

You will be confident working with large and complex datasets, with the ability to transform raw information into clear, commercially meaningful reporting and insights that support operational and strategic decision-making. Equally important is your ability to engage with stakeholders throughout the full lifecycle of analytics and BI initiatives, from problem definition and stakeholder engagement through to design, development, implementation, and insight delivery.

You will bring strong commercial acumen with the ability to connect data insights to real business outcomes and operational performance. You will be a strong communicator who can simplify complexity, tell a compelling story with data, and build trusted relationships across both technical and operational teams.
