The Senior Speech Pathologist provides advanced, evidence-based, recovery oriented care within a mental health setting. This role applies high level clinical expertise to manage complex presentations, deliver targeted intervention strategies, and support individuals to achieve meaningful functional, social, and personal outcomes. A strong background in paediatric speech pathology is essential, with the ability to apply this expertise within a mental health context.

As a key member of the leadership team, the position contributes to clinical direction, service development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

About the Role

Mindplace are seeking an Senior Speech Pathologist to join our multidisciplinary team. 

  • Role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne – Fulltime

As the Senior Speech Pathologist at Mindplace, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high quality, evidence-based care to support clients in improving their mental health, daily functioning, and overall wellbeing. This is a patient facing clinical role working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, psychosocial disability, and functional limitations.

In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will be an integral member of the leadership team, supporting the strategic direction of the service, guiding clinical practice, and contributing to the ongoing development and quality of care across the multidisciplinary team.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the multidisciplinary care model in partnership with the Clinical Director – Mental Health.
  • Oversee clinical service delivery and outcomes measurement to ensure high-quality care and alignment with best practice standards.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and mentoring to Speech Pathologists, Therapy Assistants, and allied health staff to support capability and performance.
  • Drive quality assurance through audits, reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain safe and effective practice.
  • Build and maintain strategic professional relationships to support innovation, best practice, and service growth.
  • Contribute to organisational strategy through service development, policy design, and provision of expert clinical advice to senior stakeholders.

About You

We’re seeking an experienced Speech Pathologist with:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and unrestricted registration with Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Minimum 5 years of current clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development (CPD) in line with professional standards.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, critical analysis, and professional judgement.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary healthcare setting, with an interest in mental health practice.
