About BMVS
Bupa Medical Visa Services (BMVS) partners with the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs to deliver high-quality, efficient immigration medical examinations for people applying for visas to live, work, or study in Australia.
We’re part of Bupa, a trusted global healthcare leader with the purpose of helping people live longer, healthier, happier lives. Every year, our BMVS clinics support thousands of visa applicants, playing a key role in protecting the health of the Australian community.
About the Role:
As a Panel Physician with BMVS, you will play a vital role in delivering visa medical assessments in accordance with the Department of Home Affairs’ health requirements.
You’ll conduct medical evaluations for visa applicants, supported by a skilled clinical and administrative team.
This role is ideal for doctors seeking stability, variety in their working week or a shift away from traditional clinical practice. You’ll enjoy predictable hours, paid leave, a supportive team, and the satisfaction of contributing to an essential national service.
As a Panel Physician, you will:
•Conduct medical assessments of visa applicants in line with Department of Home Affairs protocols and BMVS procedures.
•Review client health history and perform a focused physical examination.
•Review results (X-rays, pathology, and health assessor data) to make a final medical recommendation.
•Complete assessments using a secure electronic platform.
•Provide referral letters when abnormalities are identified, ensuring duty of care and appropriate follow-up.
•Collaborate with Health Assessors, Radiologists, and administrative staff to ensure a seamless customer experience.
•Contribute to maintaining compliance with all contractual, clinical, and legislative requirements.
•Uphold the highest standards of professional conduct, confidentiality, and clinical governance.
•Please note: There is no prescribing, treating, or continuity of care required in this role.
Role Requirements:
To be successful, you’ll bring:
•Current General Registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).
•Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•High standards of documentation and accuracy when recording medical findings.
•The ability to engage effectively with patients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
•Professionalism, empathy, and a collaborative approach to working within a multidisciplinary team.
•Working rights in Australia and commitment to Bupa’s code of conduct and quality standards.
About You:
You might be:
•A junior doctor seeking a non-hospital role that still utilises your clinical expertise.
•A GP or experienced clinician looking for more predictable hours and reduced stress.
•A semi-retired doctor wanting to stay engaged in meaningful, low-pressure medical work.
You’re motivated by quality and integrity, and you enjoy applying your clinical judgment in a structured, outcome-focused environment. You value patient interaction and teamwork — and you appreciate a role where your day is defined, your weekends are free, and your contribution supports a vital national health service.
