The purpose of this job
The Business Analyst will support the delivery of analytics, reporting, and data platform initiatives within the Claims Intelligence domain by translating business needs into clear requirements, coordinating delivery across stakeholders, and ensuring outcomes align to agreed objectives. The role combines business analysis, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery support, helping teams progress multiple initiatives efficiently while maintaining clarity, momentum, and alignment to the broader data and analytics strategy.
The Business Analyst will work closely with analytics, data engineering, data science, and business teams to scope work, document requirements, manage dependencies, track and communicate progress, and support the successful delivery of insights, and capability uplift activities led by the Claims Intelligence team.
What you’ll need to make it possible
- Prior experience in the private health insurance sector, specifically with claims data, would be advantageous.
- 2-5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst
- Experience in establishing and facilitating workshops for requirements elicitation
- Experience process mapping using MS Visio
- Experience working with various project delivery methodologies - Hybrid, Waterfall and Agile
- Experience in working with Agile methodologies (backlog development and refinement – writing Epics,
- Features, Stories and defining acceptance criteria using Jira or Azure DevOps) – (desirable)
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Systems/Information Technology or equivalent (desirable)
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Credibility and ability to communicate, build trust and forge strong relationships with stakeholders
What you’ll be doing in this role:
Business Analysis & Requirements Definition
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand problems, objectives, and decision needs across Claims Intelligence and related domains.
- Elicit, analyse, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements for analytics, reporting, and data platform initiatives
Analytics & Reporting Enablement
- Work closely with analysts and data scientists across the Claims Intelligence team to ensure reporting and analytics outputs align to agreed requirements and business intent.
- Assist in defining KPIs, metrics, and success measures for reporting suites within specific topic areas (e.g. claims performance, fraud, provider insights).
Data Platform & Migration Support
- Support analytics and data science modernisation initiatives, including migration of legacy reporting to Databricks-backed data platforms.
- Help document current-state and future-state processes, data flows, and dependencies related to reporting and analytics.
- Act as a liaison between business users, analytics teams, and data engineering to ensure alignment on scope, assumptions, and outcomes.
