The purpose of this job is:

This role reports to the Research Manager and is responsible for delivering design research within a digital portfolio. The Design Researcher applies qualitative and quantitative methods to understand user needs, behaviours, and experiences, generating insights that inform product, service, and design decisions.

The role works closely with product, design, and engineering teams to conduct research activities, analyse findings, and translate evidence into actionable recommendations. I

How will I help?

  • Conduct research to uncover customer needs, behaviours, and experiences. This responsibility ensures design and product teams have evidence to inform decisions.
  • Collaborate with product and design teams to support evidence-based decisions 
  • Support quality and ethical standards in design research. This responsibility ensures outputs are reliable, accessible, and consistent with organisational practices.
  • Assist in workshops that help teams translate research insights into design opportunities. This responsibility ensures insights are embedded in collaborative decision-making.
  • Adapt research delivery to meet compliance and ethical requirements. This responsibility ensures activities are appropriate for regulated or sensitive contexts. 
  • Contribute to alignment with enterprise research platforms to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing.

What you’ll need to make it possible:

  • 3+ years in in Design research, experience research, or related fields 
  • Familiarity with research repositories, recruitment ecosystems, and inclusive research practices •
  • Strong expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods 
  • Experience contributing to research activities in product or service design contexts 
  • Understanding of research ethics, privacy, and compliance in regulated environments 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with product and design teams 
  • Experience working in regulated or complex environments 
  • Foundational knowledge of design thinking methodologies, including Ethnography research method, workshop facilitation and various ideations methodologies. 
  • Experienced in user research remote or online, range of advanced user research methods, including prototype testing, concept testing, contextual inquiry, surveys, competitor analysis, IA, and sitemaps.
