An exciting, permanent opportunity has become availablefor Data Engineer. 

As a Data Engineer at Bupa, you will bring specialist skills which support Bupa ANZ to execute on its Data Strategy. Collectively, we are working to build and maintain Bupa’s data platforms to enable the business to work strategically with data to maximise competitive performance. 

Data Engineers help support various Data Services; Operational Data and Analytics, Data Warehouse and BI, Advanced Analytics and Self-service, and across different business units including Health Insurance, Health Services, and corporate functions. 

Data Engineers deliver solutions aligned to our various Target State Architectures across a range of technologies. They are responsible for implementation of data solutions aligned to our standards, and consistent with engineering guidelines. They are also contributors towards the continuous improvement of the engineering practices of the team.

What will I be doing?

  • Maintenance of all aspects of HCM’s SAS datamart including the design, development, and implementation of databases for HCM (clinical, claims, membership, product, provider, contracts); ensure a ‘single version’ of truth of data to support the Healthcare Management team’s decision making. 
  • Administration and Operational running of SAS ETL processes using a workload scheduling system (JAMS) 
  • Participate in SAS datamart roster to monitor and respond to any observed errors. 
  • Investigate and resolve issues with SAS datamart in a timely fashion. 
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with key stakeholders any delays/issues with daily SAS processes. 
  • Collaborate with team members to acquire understanding of SAS and business data processes. 
  • You may also carry out any other duties reasonably requested by Bupa from time to time. 

Requirements for the role:

  • Educated to minimum of degree level in engineering, computer science or related technology discipline 
  • 5 years’ experience as a software or data engineer 
  • Strong knowledge and commercial use of Base SAS / SQL (Mandatory) 
  • Understanding of SAS Server Architecture 
  • Familiarity with SAS Enterprise Guide 
  • Understanding of Dimensional Data Modelling 
  • Solid knowledge of ETL design, monitoring, and diagnostics 
  • Strong focus on data processing frameworks 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel 
  • Familiarity with DevOps advantageous
