About the Role:
Reporting directly to the ADF Director, the Principal Clinical Lead for ADF/DVA is accountable for clinical leadership, guidance and oversight across the ADF Health Services business. This critical leadership role will work with the General Manager Clinical Governance and with the broader Leadership Team to deliver the core Clinical Governance activities required under the Contract and ensure Bupa supports Defence with the delivery of high quality safe reliable care across ADF Health Services.
We're looking for an experienced senior doctor with defence experience and strong leadership and influencing skills, to join our team, working full time. While ideally based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane, we're flexible on location and open to regional centres for the right candidate.
You will:
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight of the ADF Health Services Contract, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality care.
- Represent Bupa at the highest level of clinical leadership both within Bupa and with our clients.
- Support the ADF Leadership Team with expert clinical advice to embed quality care across all service delivery and continuous improvement activities.
- Act as the nominated incident manager for clinical complaints and incidents, advising on risk, incident response, and standard operating procedures.
- Offer clinical guidance on regulatory, compliance, and case-specific matters to support sound decision-making.
- Support the implementation and management of the clinician value proposition to enhance workforce engagement and retention.
- Maintain compliance with relevant industry standards, Bupa and Defence policies, and collaborate with stakeholders to drive clinical quality improvements.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with clinical and administrative personnel across Bupa, the Department of Defence, state and territory health departments, and third-party providers.
About you:
To deliver real outcomes in this role you will be an inherently confident and influential communicator who enjoys working with people of all backgrounds in a complex operating environment. You’ll be capable of taking a system-wide view of models of care and be driven to identify and support the implementation of better ways of working across the ADF/DVA Health Services ecosystem.
You will have:
- Unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA
- Extensive experience in clinical governance, quality, and risk management
- In-depth understanding of the clinical and operational ADF environment
- Proven capability in leading clinical improvement initiatives and implementing new models of care
- Strong knowledge of the Australian regulatory and compliance landscape for healthcare professionals
- Adept at working across complex organisational structures and multidisciplinary teams
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, with confident presentation skills
- Highly self-motivated, accountable, and outcomes-oriented
- Resilient, innovative, and adaptable in dynamic and evolving healthcare settings
You will also require:
- Australian citizenship
- Previous experience within the clinical ADF environment (highly desirable)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain baseline security clearance
