At Bupa, purpose meets possible. Join us and help shape a future where healthcare is more connected, more personal and more human.

We’re a global healthcare leader trusted by millions and committed to helping people to live longer, healthier, happier lives and making a better world. Healthcare is changing, and so are we. We’re investing in more clinics, better systems and smarter, more connected ways to help our customers. As we continue to expand our services and invest in innovation, you’ll help create a healthcare system that meets people where they are, responds to what they need and leaves them better than before.

Here, your work has purpose, your voice matters and your future is full of possibility. Just imagine the impact you could make.

The purpose of the Senior Manager, Accountability & Conduct is to maintain a culture of accountability at Bupa by leading the Financial Accountability Regime (FAR) and help keep customer outcomes at the heart of everything we do through supporting the embedment of our conduct risk management framework

In this role you will:

  • Lead the implementation of the 'Financial Accountability Regime', acting as the head of the 'FAR Office' by coordinating reporting and submissions under the FAR, and supporting our leaders to discharge their responsibilities as 'accountable people'
  • Contribute to the implementation of Bupa’s conduct risk management approach, including by developing and supporting consistent processes to support key risk management activities
  • Enable ethical corporate conduct through maintaining a process to disclose, manage and monitor conflicts of interest, and gifts and hospitality
  • Support with the development of high quality, insightful and action-oriented reporting for board and executive audiences covering a range of risk, compliance, and governance matters, and
  • Deliver training, communications and business partnering to support your colleagues to understand accountability and conduct risk.

Reporting to the General Manager - Conduct you will have an APAC regional focus, supporting Bupa’s diverse businesses across Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong. Bupa APAC provides health insurance, healthcare, aged care, and Blua. A one-size-fits-all approach is rarely practicable; the right candidate will thrive in ambiguity and will need to hit the ground running with a ‘hands-on’ approach to learning the ropes.

This position is offered as permanent, full-time and may be based at our Melbourne or Sydney offices with flexible, hybrid work arrangements available.

What you’ll need to make it possible

We are seeking professionals with 5-7 years of practical experience in highly regulated environments, such as financial services, insurance, or healthcare. You might be a seasoned manager looking to step into a senior role, a more senior manager looking to broaden their experience in a welcoming team that supports flexible working, or a consultant seeking the opportunity to apply their skills in a diverse and exciting healthcare business.

You will have a robust knowledge of the Financial Accountability regime, gained through hands-on experience supporting implementation, and be able to apply this to help embed the governance and risk culture outcomes it seeks to achieve, to life. You’ll also know or have an interest in learning about conduct risk, and an enthusiasm for putting customer outcomes at the heart of risk management.

In addition, you’ll bring to the role:

  • tertiary qualifications in risk & compliance, law, business, or a related field
  • experience in providing support to senior executives
  • the ability to shift approach based on the size and maturity of a business, to provide fit-for-purpose, practical advice, and drive processes that add value and protect our customers
  • experience in presenting to and influencing senior audiences
  • strong analytical, written and verbal skills to communicate risk concepts and deliver meaningful management information, and
  • proven effective stakeholder management skills, modelling Bupa’s values – Brave, Caring and Responsible.

Why you’ll love it?

We support our people to be the healthiest and happiest versions of themselves. From providing initiatives that develop careers to looking after our people’s health, wellbeing, and futures. Enjoy the flexibility of hybrid working, with a mix of time in the office and at home, while having plenty of opportunities to learn, grow, and take your experience to the next level.

If this sounds exciting, we’d love to hear from you. Let’s shape the future of healthcare, together.

At Bupa your wellbeing, identity, and personal story are respected and valued. We are continuing to build teams that reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. Bupa is committed to providing equal opportunities and fostering a workplace and environment that is free of discrimination, bullying and harassment.

We actively encourage applicants from all backgrounds and experiences, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, veterans, people with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ applicants.

We are dedicated to removing barriers to participation. If you need any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, or if you’d like to discuss how this role can be flexible for you, please let us know so we can support your participation on an equitable basis.

Please note the internal position title will be Senior Compliance Manager.
