This exciting opportunity sits within Bupa’s Health Services division, the growth engine of Bupa and the heart of healthcare in Australia. The Head of Business Resilience is a senior leader, playing a crucial part in commercial performance, by safeguarding the long-term sustainability and resilience of the Health Services business and the service lines within it.
The role is responsible for strengthening the integrity, governance and operational risk management across the Health Services division. This role supports business leaders to proactively identify, manage and respond to risks and issues, while providing expert guidance and leading change initiatives with clear strategic implications.
This role is offered on a permanent, full-time, hybrid basis, and the successful applicant may be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
How will I help?
Business Resilience Leadership
- Develop and lead the design and execution of a fit for purpose business resilience framework that aligns with Bupa’s commercial strategy and supports sustainable growth
- Translatestrategic goals into clear operating procedures, reporting dashboards, and governance tools to manage risk, ensure integrity, and support uninterrupted service delivery across the portfolio.
- Represent the Commercial Function as a key thought leader, staying across market changes and advising on strategic risks and resilience themes that impact commercial performance.
First Line Risk Oversight and Leadership
- Support business teams to identify, assess and manage risks across all dimensions of business resilience, including those related to operations (e.g. developing, testing and evolving BCPs), service delivery, governance, continuity planning and customer impact.
- Ensure a Health Services view of current status across all service lines, to allow for prioritisation of risk and escalation/further input as required.
- Provide guidance and support to embed and continue to evolve first-line risk ownership and integrity practices across the Health Services businesses.
Optimisation and Change Enablement
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve systems, controls, and operating models to strengthen resilience and drive commercial efficiency.
- Initiate and lead change initiatives with measurable improvement to business continuity, risk mitigation and management, or service delivery, while ensuring accountability remains with the business.
Business Governance and Reporting
- Lead the design and operation of business resilience governance forums, ensuring clear oversight of key obligations, decisions and issues at both the Health Services and service line level.
- Support the preparation of reporting for internal stakeholders, executive teams and external clients on business resilience and integrity matters.
Leadership and Culture
- Champion transparency, integrity and evidence-based decision making across the Health Services business.
- Showcase the high-performing Business Integrity team and broader Commercial function with a focus on collaboration, ethical leadership, practical outcomes and strong business partnerships.
- Support capability uplift across Health Services to uplift understanding and ownership of Business Resilience priorities.
What do I need?
To succeed in this role, you will be a seasoned senior professional who has in-depth experience in resilience, risk, legal or governance roles within a large organisation. Ideally you will have experience in healthcare, financial services or other highly regulated sectors.
We are seeking someone who is detail-oriented, with strong commercial and risk acumen, strategic thinking, and a demonstrated ability to operate at a senior level across complex environments. With outstanding leadership and stakeholder management skills, you will have a proven ability to collaborate, influence and lead cross-functional teams.
With a deep knowledge of operational risk frameworks, you will have had experience in translating these into business-embedded controls and using them to enable balanced decision-making. You will be highly solutions-focused and a trusted advisor to your stakeholders.
