You might think you already know a lot about Bupa. But what you might not realise is that we also deliver health services in support of key government departments including delivering health services to Defence Force personnel and their families in Australia.
About the role
As a Senior Dentist Locum Relief with Bupa ADF Health Services you will provide backfill support to the health centres across Australia in order to maintain Health Centre operations during periods of planned leave.
This is a fantastic opportunity for dentists with leadership skills to stretch into a Senior Dentist role, growing your skillset with experience across a variety of Health centres and clinics as well as developing your expertise with changing patient cohorts and clinical environments.
You will balance regular travel (around block assignments) with time based in your home location either supporting local health centres with short-term leave requirements or the ADF Health Services more broadly with clinical support in quality and governance.
While based in one of our Health Centres as a Senior Dentist you will:
- Provide clinical and professional leadership in the Health Centre.
- Advise on adequate staffing levels within department and supervision of clinical staff.
- Rectify unsafe clinical practice or unprofessional conduct within area of responsibility.
- Implement, maintain and monitor administrative policies, procedures and instructions and provide advice through Health Governance Managers and Regional Medical Advisers on policy improvement.
- Delegation of secondary duties/responsibilities including quality management, infection control, work health and safety, equity and diversity, security, and emergency control organisation warden.
- Conduct team meetings and staff training activities, including prepare and present, in the provision of training to other staff members and conduct performance appraisals for ADF, APS and Contractor Personnel working within area of responsibility.
- Manage the delivery of services against benchmark standards and other clinical governance Key Performance Indicators.
- Collect, collate, analyse and report relevant data as required in a timely manner.
- Provide support to the Health Governance Manager and Regional Medical Advisor and/or quality manager in staffing all Clinical Incident reports, health care complaints, reviews and appeals or Quality Management activities.
About you
Please note: You must be an Australian citizen and be able to attain and maintain a baseline security clearance from the Defence security and vetting service.
We’re looking for someone who:
- has excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- works well with both people and details – this role involves interactions with both clinical and non-clinical team members as well as working with lots of legislative frameworks, nuanced processes and compliance activity - so you’ll need to be great at both
- has strong management skills including leadership, conflict resolution and an understanding of medical ethics and medico legal issues
- is comfortable in a heavily administrative role
- Has a genuine commitment to mentor, lead and grow internal talent and champion a meaningful career pathway for our clinicians
You will also require:
- Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a medical practitioner in Australia with AHPRA
- A minimum of 6 years Full-Time post graduate clinical experience (or part-time equivalent);
- A minimum of 2 years Full-Time post graduate clinical chair-side experience (or part-time equivalent) within the last 5 years;
- Post Graduate Qualifications equivalent to ADF DL3 requirements (Clinical Graduate Diploma or Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS)) or commitment to obtain
- Current First Aid (HLTAID0011) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification )) or commitment to obtain
