“I’ve always needed to feel like I’m making a difference.” - Jen’s Journey at Bupa 

From her first role in Bupa’s contact centre to now driving meaningful change as a First Nations Candidate Experience Partner, Jen’s career has been shaped by growth, purpose, and people. 

“I started in the contact centre in 2021,” Jen explains. “I’d worked in sales and insurance before, so it felt familiar. But what surprised me was how quickly I felt supported to grow. My manager saw that I was driven and already exceeding my targets, so she encouraged me to take on more - coaching, training, helping new team members.” 

That encouragement was the beginning of a broader journey. 

“After a few years, I saw this role come up in the candidate experience team. It was like - wow, there’s a role where I can really make a difference,” Jen says. “I had another great leader who pushed me to go for it. There was no sense of ‘don’t leave the team’ - just support to thrive, wherever that took me.” 

Now, in her current role, Jen helps First Nations candidates build meaningful careers at Bupa, and says the work continues to motivate her every day. 
“I get to help people start their careers. I connect with them, understand their stories, and see them succeed - and that’s just incredible.” 

 Jen plays a key role in supporting reconciliation and building a more inclusive organisation. 
“What we do contributes to a better world. Without diverse hiring and inclusive practices, we can’t live up to our purpose. We’re helping create those shifts—and we’re not staying still.” 

Jen’s story is also a reflection of Bupa’s commitment to career development and inclusive hiring. She credits her success to the culture around her. 
“Bupa doesn’t just hire for skill - they hire for values, for how people will fit in the team. That’s why the culture is so strong,” she says. “Everyone genuinely cares. There’s always someone to talk to. You feel accepted.” 

Even as a fully remote employee, Jen says the connection and support hasn’t wavered. 
“Strangely enough, I feel more connected working remotely than I have in past office roles. I feel trusted, supported, and more productive.” 

That sense of autonomy has helped Jen thrive - and keep pushing forward. 
“There’s always more to do in this role. Some days it’s overwhelming how much change is needed, but that’s what motivates me. If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. I’m here to be part of the solution.” 

Her advice for anyone considering a role at Bupa? 
“Put your hand up. Ask questions. Don’t wait for someone to come to you. If you want to make a difference - this is a place where you can.”
