At Bupa, we believe healthier lives start with healthier communities. That's why we created Healthy Cities, a global initiative that encourages people to be more active while helping make urban environments greener, healthier and more resilient.

Through Healthy Cities, our people have the opportunity to contribute to healthier communities in practical ways. Employees join customers, partners and local communities in initiatives that promote wellbeing, encourage healthier lifestyles and help unlock investment in urban nature regeneration projects around the world. Together, these efforts are creating greener, healthier and more resilient places to live.

Since becoming a global initiative, Healthy Cities has delivered significant impact around the world. In 2025 alone, the programme supported more than 1 million people across 50+ cities in 24 countries, helping individuals build healthier habits while unlocking funding for local environmental and community projects. 

Through participation in the Healthy Cities Challenge and community initiatives, Bupa customers, colleagues and partners helped unlock more than £3 million for urban nature regeneration projects worldwide. These projects include tree planting, green space restoration and biodiversity initiatives that support community wellbeing and help cities adapt to climate-related challenges.

In Australia, Healthy Cities participants have contributed more than 4.4 billion steps, with over 35,000 people taking part over the past three years. Together with partners including Landcare Australia and Trees That Count, the programme has supported the planting of more than 578,000 native trees and plants, helping create greener, healthier places for people to live and thrive
