About the role: 

Reporting to and supported by the Centre Manager, the Senior Health Assessor is responsible for leading and supervising Medica Assessment Centre (MAC) health assessors (nurses and phlebotomists) that are conducting the basic requirements of the Medical Assessment. They may be required to conduct health assessments for Home Affairs Visa Applicants.

The heart of the role:

  • Supervision and ongoing leadership of the medical assessment centre health assessors (enrolled nurses and phlebotomists). 
  • Oversee the recruitment, induction, training, and development of health assessors. 
  • Engage and motivate the health assessors’ team to ensure the provision of a highly professional and customer focused service 
  • Develop health assessors resourcing strategies to ensure the most effective use of permanent, contract and agency resources, including staff roster. 
  • Work collaboratively with the medical assessment centre multidisciplinary team. 
  • Planning, coordinating, and delivering customer focused quality service to customers. 
  • Oversee day-to-day engagement and relationship management of third-party providers (for example medical equipment supplies and pathology suppliers)

What you’ll bring:

  • Phlebotomy qualifications 
  • Tertiary Health Care professional qualifications or proven equivalent experience in 
  • Nursing or a related field preferred. 
  • Current APHRA registration would be desired 
  • Post graduate management qualifications highly regarded 
  • Previous leadership and management experience 
  • Demonstrated capacity to support and lead quality-controlled processes 
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement 
  • Immigration health experience highly regarded 
  • Proficient computer skills – Microsoft office

The centre is conveniently located on Bourke Street in Docklands, right now Southern Cross Station in the CBD and close to public transport, cafes, restaurants, and shops.

Our successful candidate must have availability on weekends, either Saturday/Sunday or both; this does come with weekend penalties. Medical centre hours vary from 7am - 6pm Monday to Friday, and Saturday and Sundays from 8am – 4pm.
