Why Bupa?

We have a clear ambition to be the world's most customer-centric healthcare company. To bring our ambition to life, we’re elevating the focus on digital and data, evolving how we do things to create value for our customers now and into the future.

Our global mission is to help our customers live healthier and happier lives.

The opportunity

Are you passionate about crafting, remediating and optimising user-centred content that transforms digital experiences? As a Content Designer in the sales stream, you’ll play a key role helping to make health insurance content easy for everyone to understand and use. Splitting your time equally across 2 multidisciplinary squads, you’ll provide critical content support across several sales-focussed projects and initiatives.

You’ll collaborate with researchers, product owners, experience designers, and other specialists to build simple, accessible, and impactful digital content that aligns with Bupa’s voice, tone, and brand. Whether that means delivering needs-based and SEO-optimised landing pages, leading the content execution for conversion tests or advising on best-practice content design and accessibility changes as content is migrated into a headless CMS.

Based in a team of more than 15 Content Designers and reporting to the Content Design Manager (Sales), this is a permanent opportunity which is open to candidates based anywhere in Australia. (While Bupa has offices in several locations, we offer flexible working, and this team works remotely for the most part).

Making an impact at Bupa

As a Content Designer at Bupa, you’ll have the chance to work on content that genuinely improves customer experiences while supporting our business objectives. Your work will help ensure consistency, clarity, and cohesion across our digital ecosystems, driving alignment across various programs of work.

You will add value by:

  • Contributing to and leveraging user research and testing to create evidence-based content.
  • Translating user and business requirements into compelling digital experiences that prioritise inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver valuable and impactful content informed by data, analytics, SEO research, and content audits.
  • Ensuring all content adheres to Bupa’s voice, tone, and brand guidelines, and complies with relevant legal and regulatory standards.
  • Advising on content uplift for the migration of sales pathway pages to a new content management system, ensuring quality and consistency throughout.
  • Performing competitor and gap analyses to identify opportunities for continuous content improvement.
  • Helping to mature content design processes, standards, and systems to improve quality, consistency, and efficiency of our digital content.

What will I bring?

This role is perfect for a mid-level content designer with experience in related communications fields and a few years of content design experience under their belt. You’ll be eager to take on new challenges and grow in your career. You’ll thrive working in a collaborative environment alongside other designers. You’ll show initiative and be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity.

If you’re someone who is curious, detail-oriented, and passionate about user-centred design, this is an opportunity to hone your skills and make a meaningful impact at Bupa.

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Around 3+ years of experience in UX writing and/or product content design.
  • Solid understanding of SEO, accessibility, and UX fundamentals, paired with high-level copywriting, grammar and editing skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate content decisions and ideas to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong background in leveraging data, research, and analytics to optimise content performance.
  • Familiarity with enterprise CMS production platforms such as Sitecore or Adobe Experience Cloud.
  • A growth mindset with experience in or curiosity about design thinking and human-centred design methodologies.
  • A tertiary qualification in communications, writing, journalism, marketing, or a related field.

What’s in it for you.

As well as a competitive salary, a range of Bupa benefits and flexible working/work from home arrangements, you’ll be encouraged to innovate. You will have the opportunity to further learn and develop with excellent internal development courses available and a supportive, career development environment. We trust, respect, and consider everyone, knowing your difference will make the difference.

Customer care during COVID

When COVID-19 hit we knew we had a responsibility to care for our customers by putting them at the heart of our decisions.

For this reason, in April 2020 our Health Insurance team invested over $50M and created the hardship team to support our customers when they most needed it.

Celebrate Wear it Purple Day and be the change

Wear it Purple was started to raise awareness of the discrimination faced by LGBTIQ+ youth, and the higher levels of suicide, depression and anxiety they experience as a result.

Ban the asterisk

Our customers have told us that our products can be confusing and complex when we add an asterisk (*) with fine print in our policies. To respond to our customers’ needs, in 2020 the Product Deisgn Squad was created to make our products simpler, more relecant and personalised. Here’s how putting our customers at the heart of everything helped the team ban the *.
