The purpose of the Finance Risk Assurance Partner role is to promote the Financial Control, Governance and Risk Management Frameworks within Finance across the Asia Pacific (APAC) Market Unit (MU). This is a specialist role responsible for delivering a robust finance risk assurance plan that meets the needs of the business as well as ensuring appropriate coverage across finance activities.
The role includes performing First Line of Defence assurance, risk and governance activities to:
- Underpin the Finance Functional Unit and implementation of the Financial Control, Governance and Risk Management Frameworks
- Support compliance with Prudential and Regulatory Standards
- Ensure the Finance Functional Unit across the ANZ MU are adequately managing risk and complying with Bupa’s Enterprise Policies
This is a permanent full-time position, based in the Melbourne office. (Bupa offers hybrid working arrangements and you can work from the office or from home)
How will you help?
- Working with the Finance Manager - Assurance Risk and Governance to implement an effective risk-based assurance plan (Annual Plan) for the whole of APAC Finance, which supports the needs of the business on an ongoing basis.
- Developing the Annual Plan, partnering with the Finance Manager - Assurance Risk and Governance, to engage with relevant stakeholders and understand the key risks and obligations; and ensure agreement on the Annual Plan.
- Executing assurance activities in accordance with the Annual Plan by designing testing plans, conducting testing to assess the design and operating effectiveness of key controls and processes, and reporting on testing outcomes.
- Partnering with all areas within Finance on all aspects of financial control and risk management, including but not limited to providing ongoing education, monitoring and support across the implementation of key elements of the Financial Control, Governance and Risk Management Frameworks.
- Overseeing remediation of findings including incidents, ensuring prompt, effective and sustainable solutions and appropriate documentation of decisions.
What you’ll need to make it possible:
You'll be CA or CPA qualified (or about to complete) with experience in financial accounting, external audit or accounting advisory gained within a Big 4 environment. You will have strong technical knowledge of accounting standards, governance, risk and assurance frameworks, coupled with sound commercial judgement.
Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills enable you to build trusted relationships and influence effectively across all levels of an organisation, including senior leaders. Operating in a complex and evolving environment comes naturally, supported by strong organisational skills, resilience, adaptability and the ability to identify and appropriately escalate emerging risks.
An analytical proactive mindset, strong problem-solving capability and a collaborative approach underpin your success. Advanced skills in Excel, proficiency with financial systems and technology, combined with a continuous improvement mindset will allow you to contribute to key business initiatives, including integration and acquisition activities, while delivering high-quality outcomes.
