This role will report into the Clinical Director Customer & Transformation Office (C&TO) new role will provide clinical leadership, governance and clinical ethics expertise across the breadth of capabilities and services within the C&TO. It plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, effective, and cost-efficient delivery of pharmaceutical benefits within Bupa Health Insurance. This role will work cross-functionally with transformation, strategy and health service operations teams ensuring a strong health driven lens is embedded in Bupa’s proposition design, build and operation

About the role

Permanent Position – Can be based in Melbourne or Sydney

This role requires strong clinical leadership, expertise in digital health, and a focus on maintaining high care standards and will have the following responsibilities.

  • Advise on best practices to support Bupa’s vision as a customer-centric healthcare leader in APAC, focusing on long-term growth and innovation.
  • Lead clinical service design and virtual care across health disciplines, aligning strategies with business objectives to enhance patient experience and operational efficiency.
  • Advise on AI, chatbots, and emerging tech, ensuring regulatory compliance while driving the adoption of new technologies to improve care delivery and operational performance.
  • Identify health data use cases to drive behaviour change and strategic decisions, using data insights to shape business strategies, enhance patient outcomes, and support cost-effective care models.
  • Set KPIs that align with organizational goals, overseeing clinical incidents, and fostering continuous improvement to ensure both high standards of care and business performance.
  • Collaborate with clinicians to manage risks, optimize resource allocation, and stay updated on healthcare regulations, ensuring that strategic decisions are informed by the latest industry trends and standards.
  • Support the Clinical Director and act as a delegate when needed.

About you:

Required:

  • AHPRA registered medical practitioner.
  • Minimum of 8 years clinical experience, preferably in general practice, public health, or corporate settings.
  • Interest and experience in digital health, virtual care, healthcare technology, and innovation.
  • Clinical experience in Women’s Health, Mental Health, and/or Metabolic Health.

Highly Desirable:

  • Specialist qualifications in a relevant medical field (e.g., FRACGP, FACRRM, FRACMA).
  • Experience in clinical governance and risk management with a focus on primary care, public health, virtual care, and digital health.
  • Experience in working with clinicians to implement continuous improvement programs and new models of clinical care.
  • Experience in or postgraduate qualification in healthcare ethics.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory and funding environment for clinicians in Australia.
  • Strategic thinker with extensive knowledge of digital health and health informatics.
  • Experience in change management and developing/implementing health initiatives, preferably in digital health.
  • Mature understanding of preventative and predictive medicine and holistic wellness principles.
  • Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders and navigate organizational structures.
  • Curiosity and interest in healthcare innovation, especially digital, and finding new service models to improve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of customer experience and customer-centric principles.
