The opportunity:
We are looking for a dynamic and driven Process Risk and Controls Manager to play a pivotal role in strengthening operational risk management across Bupa’s Health Insurance business.
In this role, you’ll lead the identification, mapping, and enhancement of risk and controls within our most critical processes. This is a hands-on, high-impact position where you’ll collaborate with leaders across digital, technology, automation, CX, finance, and risk functions to ensure that robust controls are embedded in our day-to-day operations—supporting both compliance and performance.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a purpose-driven organisation that’s committed to continuous improvement, smarter systems, and safer processes for the benefit of our customers and our people.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the identification and documentation of operational risks and controls within key health insurance processes, including system-based controls.
- Support process owners in identifying control gaps and uplifting controls (including automation opportunities) to reduce risk and increase efficiency.
- Embed and maintain risk and control documentation within process maps in Mega and the Governance, Risk & Compliance system (Protecht).
- Ensure process controls remain current, effective, and well-integrated into BAU operations.
- Upskill and coach process owners to own and manage risks and controls within their remit.
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and become a valued advisor on operational risk.
- Foster a continuous improvement mindset and team culture that values safe, customer-centric process excellence.
- Manage and deliver multiple risk and control uplift initiatives concurrently.
- Contribute to HI IMS administration and support broader risk and compliance reporting.
What you’ll bring:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in process improvement, operational risk, or compliance, ideally within health insurance or a regulated environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success leading risk/control initiatives and embedding control frameworks into operational processes.
- Deep understanding of risk principles and process mapping tools (e.g. Visio, Mega), and experience working with GRC platforms (e.g. Protecht).
- Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and educate across diverse business functions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to work across multiple teams and business units.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement principles is a plus.
