Bupa is establishing an AI Factory that will provide the processes, products, capabilities, and governance to execute and support AI adoption and use cases at Bupa. This team will host, support, develop, and lifecycle manage internally facing tools and customer facing products utilising AI based technologies.
As part of establishing this capability we are hiring a Product Owner to work with our Product Manager and Delivery Lead to join our team and progress a roadmap continuously maturing AI based capabilities, products, and tools.
Responsibilities
- Will liaise with the Product Managers, business stakeholders, business analysts and technical development teams to deliver complex Engineering Products and services.
- Progress a roadmap continuously maturing AI based capabilities, products, and tools for stakeholders.
- Taking a positive stance, with a can-do attitude, you have a proven ability to influence and take people with you on the journey to success.
- Define business requirements via epics, features and stories, together with acceptance criteria to deliver the minimum viable product for product launch and successive iteration and horizon mapping.
- Ensure focus on relevant stories and priority of team backlog and roadmap.
- Communicate and motivate the delivery team with the product vision communicating the business benefits of the product / features.
- Create, prioritise, and maintain the team backlog, defining release and sprint goals and answering questions to add detail to user stories.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, to define and create engaging and delightful experiences.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand business drivers, considerations, and necessary approvals.
- Contribute to ongoing product iteration, including management of small changes, bug fixes and optimisations, together with larger roadmap initiatives.
- You may also carry out any other duties reasonably requested by Bupa from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
AI Product Ownership (PO) skills are crucial for effectively managing AI projects and products. A Product Owner in AI needs to blend traditional product management skills with a deep understanding of AI technology, data science, and ethics. Here are key skills that an AI PO should have:
1. AI Fundamentals
- Understanding AI Concepts: Familiarity with concepts like Large Language Models, Natural Language Processing and related concepts
2. Product Management
- Vision and Strategy: Help in defining a product vision and strategy with a focus on how AI can drive value.
- Road mapping: Contributing and managing a roadmap that aligns with business goals and AI capabilities.
- Backlog Management: Prioritizing AI features, user stories, and technical debts based on customer needs, business impacts and priorities
3. Stakeholder Management
- Communication: Clearly explaining complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Working with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, designers, and business stakeholders.
- Expectation Management: Setting realistic expectations about AI capabilities, timelines, and outcomes.
4. Agile and Lean Methodologies
- Agile Practices: Familiarity with Agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, to manage AI projects.
- Iterative Development: Ability to iterate on AI products based on user feedback and performance metrics.
5. Technical Acumen
- API and Integration Knowledge: Understanding how to integrate AI models with existing systems through APIs.
- Cloud Platforms: Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for deploying AI models.
- Tooling and Frameworks: Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks
6. Adaptability and Continuous Learning
- Industry Trends: Staying updated with the latest trends, tools, and best practices in AI.
- Flexibility: Being adaptable to changes in technology, business needs, and market conditions.
- Lifelong Learning: Continually learning new skills and expanding knowledge in AI and related fields.
Having these skills will help an AI Product Owner effectively bridge the gap between AI technology and business value, ensuring successful product development and deployment.
