The purpose of this job is:
The Senior Accountant – Group Reporting and Advisory role plays a key part in supporting high-quality financial reporting and accounting governance across Bupa APAC. Working closely with finance and business stakeholders, the position provides expert guidance on complex accounting matters, including software capitalisation and lease accounting, ensuring consistent application of accounting standards and sound financial judgement.
The role also supports the delivery of consolidated financial reporting across Bupa APAC, while helping to strengthen financial control frameworks, embed policy compliance and provide trusted accounting advice that enables informed decision-making across the organisation.
How will you help?
- Capitalisation of software development costs - Develop understanding of digital project initiatives, apply accounting standards and Bupa accounting policies to assess capitalisation, provide guidance, communicate conclusions to the business, document assessments and liaise with external auditors
- Lease accounting - Lead the end-to-end process for lease accounting and reporting, including system improvements and process optimisation as well as forecasting lease costs
- Accounting advice - Support providing technical accounting advice to Finance and to the business, including supporting projects to prepare for changes to accounting standards and advising on potential financial, process and system impacts. Most importantly, ensuring compliance with accounting standards whilst achieving commercially optimal outcomes and communicating complex accounting concepts to stakeholders.
- Insights and analytics - Create a data-driven narrative to effectively communicate insights from accounting analysis and data quality reviews to help Bupa drive change.
- External audit - Assist in managing the year-end, half-year and interim audit processes. Liaise with external auditors to understand scope, timing and audit evidence required.
- Continuous improvements initiatives – Work on dedicated project streams to develop local capabilities and embed new processes.
- Group and Consolidated Reporting – Support the delivery of IFRS and Solvency 2 Group reporting, consolidated market unit reporting and statutory reporting ensuring adherence to regulatory and accounting standard requirements whilst being consistently presented across the business. Co-ordinate and produce consolidated financial results for Three-Year Plan and Finance Board Reports.
- Financial Control Policies - Support compliance with Bupa financial control policies. Monitor and maintain documentary evidence of compliance.
What you’ll need to make it possible:
You will be a CA or CPA qualified finance professional with experience gained within financial accounting, external audit or accounting advisory environments. A mix of Big 4 and industry experience is highly desirable. Strong technical accounting capability is essential, with the ability to independently research, interpret and provide advice on complex accounting matters where judgement is required. Advanced Excel skills and a proven ability to analyse, transform and interpret data will enable you to deliver meaningful insights and support informed decision-making.
Success in this role will come from your strong analytical and problem-solving skills, high attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality outcomes. You'll be an effective communicator who can build strong relationships across a range of stakeholders, manage competing priorities and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
