Senior Data Scientist - 12 months Fixed term Contract - Melbourne


We’re seeking a Senior Data Scientist who thrives in complex environments and has proven experience delivering data science at scale. A key aspect of this role is not just building predictive models but partnering with Tech, ML Engineers and our Clinicians to help build out Data Science frameworks at Bupa so we can operate at scale and at pace but in a safe and secure way.

You’re not only a strong modeler, but you’re a systems thinker who understands how to build frameworks and practices that make data science repeatable, reliable, and impactful. This role sits in the Health and Clinical space.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and deliver end-to-end model development process including scoping requirements with stakeholders, data sourcing and preparation, feature selection, applying appropriate modelling techniques, and productionisation of outputs to impact clinician and member interactions and optimise customer outcomes.
  • Work closely with the Data Platform Crew (Databricks)and AI Factory to deliver infrastructure  that enables self-sufficiency in applying data science.
  • Design and work with ML engineers to build relevant quality assurance measures for models e.g. drift, decay.
  • Work closely with our privacy,  governance and risk partners to ensure best practice frameworks and controls for whole model lifecycle e.g. bias and fairness checking automation, de-identification of training sets.
  • Become a trusted advisor to business partners and clinicians in delivering key predictive insights via AI/ML.

  • Proven experience delivering data science at scale in a large organisation
  • Strong modelling skills with ability to build predictive models
  • Systems thinker who can design frameworks and practices
  • Ability to create repeatable and reliable data science processes
  • Experience in building scalable solutions and data science best practices
  • Experience working in Health and Clinical environments
