Senior Employee and Workplace Relations Specialist

The opportunity
We are on the lookout for a Senior Employee and Workplace Relations Specialist to join our People team on a 12-month fixed term contract.
In this role, you will provide advice on a variety of ER and IR matters. This will involve delivering education, supporting compliance projects, bargaining, mentoring and supporting broader Employee and Workplace Relations initiatives.
To be successful, you will be a critical and analytical thinker who is able to operationalise Employee Relations and Workplace Relations strategy, policy and governance frameworks, whilst also managing stakeholder relationships internal and external to Bupa.
This role can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane with hybrid work arrangements available.
How will you make an impact?
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide expert guidance and advice regarding Bupa’s internal ER landscape and relationships along with legislative and industrial instruments relating to employment law and/or the employment relationship
- Assist with investigating and resolving employment matters that fall within the ambit of complex Employee Relations cases.
- Assist senior members of the Employee Governance team in implementing and executing strategic, consistent and best practice Workplace Relations and Employee Relations across the business.
- Operationalise the workplace relations agenda in Bupa A&NZ and drive matters to completion, in particular compliance projects and initiatives.
- Assist senior members of the team and support the development and implementation of related frameworks, systems, processes and practices
- Work in close partnership with People Partners and Heads of People, as well as ancillary teams (including the People Support team).
- Contribute to developing positive stakeholder relationships and growing capability in Employee and Workplace Relations across people team and leaders via delivery of structured learning and development activities.
- Identify areas of opportunity and risk and escalate as needed to ensure appropriate controls are developed i.e., policy, process, education, and awareness initiatives.
- Support the implementation of continuous improvements to enhance the service offering, quality, and service delivery of the Employee Governance function.
- Actively monitor the external environment and provide timely, contemporary and relevant data and insights
- Contribute to the success of the People Team by providing timely and accurate reporting, and supporting, guiding, coaching, and advising on all matters related to Employee Relations and Workplace Relations
- Engage appropriately in Employee and Workplace Relations matters and provide advice and guidance to People Directors, Business Partners and Consultants

What do I need?
- Previous experience in Workplace Relations and Employee Relations in a large and complex organization, preferably within a heavily unionised sector.
- Knowledge and understanding of management policies and procedures and experience in delivering practical commercial HR/ER/WR solutions.
- Demonstrable experience in the successful operationalising and implementation of ER and WR strategies, frameworks, systems, processes, and policies.
- Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to influence key internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communications skills with the ability to convey complex concepts in a manner suited to the audience.
- The ability to analyse and use data for continuous improvement and informing workflow and development.
- Focus on day-to-day business as usual service delivery in high functioning and complex environment
