An opportunity reporting into the IT Internal Audit Manager, APAC has become available at Bupa. Based in Melbourne the Senior IT Internal Auditor will provide independent and objective assurance to Senior Management, the Board and the Audit committee on the effectiveness of Bupa’s risk management, control and governance processes.

With a passion for risk management and internal audit, you will work collaboratively and bring in your knowledge and skills in the evaluation and improvement of processes to achieve strategic business goals. You will also be a part of the establishment of a data analytics capability within the global Internal Audit team and take an innovative approach with its application within audits.

How will I help? 

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Assist in the development of the annual audit plan and provision of advice to the business around audit.
  • Lead and take ownership of the planning, execution and reporting of IT audits across Bupa Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong in accordance with the Global Internal Audit Methodology.
  • Lead IT internal audits and work closely with the Hong Kong and Australia-based Internal Audit teams to provide necessary IT audit support and advice on business audits with Technology impact.
  • Lead trained audit analysts to conduct audits and assessment as per the Audit schedule.
  • Attend local committees and working groups within Bupa Technology to provide real-time continuous assurance and guidance on IT risks and controls.
  • Take ownership of assigned internal relationships with key stakeholders in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong, including the Risk & Compliance team to maximise effectiveness, identify synergies and resolve issues.
  • Assist the global Internal Audit team in becoming more efficient and effective in planning audit coverage and executing audits through the use of data analytics, continuous monitoring and modelling techniques.
  • Be part of global Internal Audit initiatives to identify and deliver ways to improve the internal audit function
  • Be proactive in keeping abreast of new developments affecting IT internal audit work, and be responsive to changing business needs, and strive for continuous improvement.

What do I need? 

  • 4+ years of IT audit experience.
  • Solid experience in auditing IT controls with strong knowledge of application controls, IT security, identity and access management, systems development, change & release management, incident & problem management, operational resilience and data governance.
  • Deep understanding of risk management and audit principles and an understanding of audit philosophy, methods and techniques e.g., flowcharting, interviewing, presentation.
  • Ability to use data analytics or work with large sets of data from various data sources, conducting deep dives to identify trends and provide insights will be looked upon favourably.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence in liaising with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science or Commerce/Business and other relevant courses will be highly regarded or equivalent business experience.
  • Undertaking (or a desire to undertake) relevant professional accreditations (CISA, CISM, CA, CPA, CIA etc).
