The opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and driven Senior Legal Advisor – Corporate and International to join our team!
The purpose of this role is to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives and make a better world through delivering on Bupa’s ambition to become the world’s most customer-centric healthcare company.
This role will help achieve Bupa’s ambition by providing strategic, pragmatic and high-quality legal work predominantly partnering with the International, Corporate and Wellness (ICP) businesses.
This role will also have the opportunity to assist with Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) related projects and initiatives across all Business Units within Bupa APAC and work with the Bupa Global team.
This role will report into the Legal Manager – International & Corporate and be a part of a fun, collaborative and supportive working environment.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Melbourne with hybrid working arrangements.
How will you make an impact?
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with the Legal Manager in ensuring the provision of the highest quality, reliable and comprehensive legal advice to the leadership and executive teams
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide range of contract and related documents, including arrangements with corporate and international clients and brokers and wellness suppliers
- Provision of commercially focused and risk based legal advice, the reviewing of tender responses and the facilitation of new initiatives
- Reviewing marketing collateral which is submitted for copy clearance review
- Providing advice and knowhow in respect of consumer law and competition law
- Delivering training and on areas of law that may lead to compliance issues, including consumer and competition law and contracting
- Providing strategic advice and assistance on projects and initiatives related to Environment, Social and Governance related projects
- Develop relationships and collaborate within Bupa APAC, Bupa Global legal team and various business stakeholders

What do I need?
- Commercial lawyer with strong contract drafting and negotiation experience
- Minimum 6+ years relevant post admission experience in-house or in private practice
- Law degree from an Australian or international university
- A current relevant practising certificate in a state Supreme Court and the High Court of Australia
- Experience advising on Consumer Law and some exposure to Privacy Law
- Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
- Commercial acumen with the ability to provide pragmatic legal advice
- An understanding of Private Health Insurance and related health legislation is a bonus, but not a prerequisite
