The Senior Investment Manager oversees a substantial portfolio of $4 billion for Bupa APAC’s insurance businesses to maximise returns whilst balancing risk. This pivotal role requires a proven track record in investment management, a deep understanding of financial markets, and the ability to strategically allocate assets to achieve optimal returns while adhering to risk management guidelines.
Working closely with the Group investment teams, investment managers, outsourcing providers, and consultants, the Senior Investment Manager contributes to guiding investment decisions, plays a critical role in ensuring the growth and stability of our investment portfolio, contributing to the company's overall financial success. The Senior Investment Manager will drive Bupa’s ambition of becoming a net zero (carbon) business by 2040 as well as demonstrate leadership in sustainability by investing.
How will I help?
- Evaluate and refine investment strategies that align with each business unit’s financial objectives and risk tolerances, which are predominantly within the fixed income asset class spectrum in conjunction with an outsourced investment manager
- Monitor and assess financial markets, economic trends, and investment opportunities to make informed investment decisions
- Utilise financial models and analytics to optimise portfolio performance while managing risks effectively
- Implement robust risk management practices to protect the portfolio from potential market downturns or adverse events
- Conduct stress testing and scenario analyses to assess portfolio resilience under various market conditions
- Ensure compliance with internal risk management policies and regulatory requirements
- Prepare insightful reports for senior management and Boards, detailing portfolio performance, risk exposures, and investment outlooks supporting recommendations in relation to retention or divestment
- Oversee and manage the performance of an outsourced investment manager
- Perform due diligence on investment managers and external funds to assess their capabilities and track records
- Continuously monitor the performance of existing investments and make informed decisions about their retention or divestment
- Manage the placement of term deposits and liquidity funds
- Manage the execution of FX trades
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members fostering a culture of excellence and professional development
- Manage and foster partnerships with investment consultants, fund managers and other advisors.

What do I need?
- CFA qualified with a relevant finance and/or economics degree
- Advanced capabilities in investment markets, economics, mathematics and spreadsheets
- Experience managing portfolios of $1 billion or more in an insurance or asset management firm would be highly regarded
- Experience using Treasury Management Systems (such as Reval), Asset Reporting Tools (such as Aladdin), and FX trading platforms
- Demonstrated ability to navigate through changing market conditions and adapt investment strategies accordingly
- Solid understanding of risk management principles and regulatory frameworks applicable to investment management in Australia
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex investment concepts to diverse audiences including internal stakeholders at the board and executive level
