The Opportunity

Operational disruption can adversely impact business components, which underpin Bupa’s ability to deliver business services: processes; people; property; technology; data; clinical equipment and/or third parties. 

The Operational Resilience APAC team plays a key role in developing a clear vision, strategy and work program to build the operational resilience capability of Bupa and the processes to prepare and respond to disruption. This role supports the Head of Operational Resilience, will work closely with the leadership team who are accountable for supporting the development, implementation and operational activities of the Operational Resilience including CPS230, Business Continuity and Crisis Management Standards and related policies across the APAC Market Unit. 

A key aspect of the role is establishing strong and trust-based relationships with business leaders and employees, facilitating two-way interaction in relation to business continuity matters. They will work closely with other risk colleagues to ensure risks are identified and appropriately managed by the business.

This position is offered as hybrid with flexible working and may be based from Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney. 

Key responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Senior Risk Manager, to implement and provide oversight of the Group Operational Resilience Framework, CPS230, across the APAC Market Unit, including key pillars like technology, third parties, and data.
  • Offer 2nd line oversight and challenge on business continuity, IT disaster recovery, third-party risk, and emerging technology risks, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and policy.
  • Provide expert guidance and training on operational resilience frameworks to build awareness and capability across the business.
  • Champion a strong risk and governance culture aligned with Bupa’s values, setting the tone through leadership and example.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business and functional leaders to enable effective two-way communication on risk, governance, and compliance matters.
  • Drive the use of risk systems and data analytics to support risk management, incident response, and operational resilience activities.
  • Deliver reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including the Board, Committees, Market Unit, and Corporate Centre.

What do I need?

  • Preferably qualified and member of the BCI or other, e.g. CBCI / MBCI, BCM elements of ISO 27001 certification 
  • ISACA (CRISC, CISA, CISM) or RMIA (CPRM) highly regarded 
  • ISACA or RMIA membership or equivalent highly regarded 
  • 7+ years experience in first line or second line risk management roles in large organisations in Business Continuity Management and/or Information Technology Risk Management 
  • Proficient knowledge of CPS230 and experience to confidently interact with relevant business leaders. 
  • Comprehensive risk management and business continuity experience 
  • Experience in facilitating risk workshops, business impact assessment and BCP scenarios testing. 
  • Experience in presenting to senior management teams to explain and educate in relation to all aspects of a Risk Management/Operational Resilience CPS230/Business Continuity Framework
  • BS or MA in Business and Information Technology or a related field
