The Data Governance Manager plays a critical role in developing and managing our data governance program, for Bupa’s ADF Health Services Contract. The primary objective of this role will be to ensure that our data meets quality standards and complies with regulatory requirements, while also driving continuous improvement in our data management processes.
The successful candidate will lead the design and implementation of our data quality framework and tracking systems, collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve data quality issues, answer business requests, and provide leadership and guidance on data governance practices across the broader data and analytics function.
With strong Python skills and a hands-on approach to monitoring, the Data Governance Manager will take ownership of active data quality management across our platform. Leveraging Databricks Unity Catalog's built-in capabilities, they will implement scalable, automated processes to detect and surface data issues early. The role involves close collaboration with technical teams and business stakeholders to resolve issues, drive continual improvement, and embed proactive data governance practices into day-to-day operations.
Overall, your work will be essential to ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our data, supporting data-driven decision-making and business success.
Please note, this is a Security Cleared position. The candidate must be an Australian Citizen and must be eligible to obtain and hold a Baseline Security Clearance.
This role is offered as permanent, full-time and may be based from our Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney offices. (Bupa offers hybrid working arrangements).
How will I help?
- Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Lead the design and implementation of data quality framework to measure, monitor, and report on data quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve data quality issues.
- Develop and manage processes for data remediation and ensure that corrective actions are taken when necessary.
- Design and implement data quality tracking systems to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor data quality metrics and communicate data quality issues to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure that data governance processes are properly integrated into data management systems and platforms.
- Provide leadership and guidance to junior members of the data governance team, including training and mentoring on data quality best practices.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in data governance and data quality, and recommend enhancements to our program as needed.
What do I need?
To be successful in this role you will need to be a highly effective communicator, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong leadership skills are essential, with a background in managing and mentoring junior team members. You will be able to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. You will also require:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in data governance, data quality, and data management.
- Experience with Databricks and Unity Catalog will be highly regarded.
- Hands on experience with SQL and/or Python is desirable.
- Experience designing and implementing data quality frameworks and tracking systems.
- Strong knowledge of data governance best practices and industry standards, including GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
- Experience working with sensitive data highly regarded
