Role Purpose
As Senior Design System Manager, you’ll lead the strategy, adoption, and operations of Bupa’s enterprise design system. You’ll ensure the system is scalable, efficient, and aligned with business goals—driving measurable value across portfolios.
You’ll work closely with product, design, engineering, and brand teams to embed system practices into delivery workflows. Your leadership will help teams deliver consistent, accessible, and high-quality experiences across web and native platforms.
This role reports to the Head of Design Capabilities and is being offered as a permanent full-time opportunity. The role can be based in Melbourne or Sydney, with hybrid working arrangements (a mix of working from home and in-office collaboration)
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Align design system strategy with business objectives and portfolio priorities.
- Govern contributions, quality standards, and adoption across teams.
- Deliver training, documentation, and advocacy to support system use.
- Maintain parity across web, iOS, and Android components.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate system practices into planning and delivery.
- Manage team resources, budgets, and vendor relationships.
About You
We’re seeking a visionary leader with deep expertise in design systems who can align strategy with business goals, champion governance and accessibility, and inspire teams to deliver consistent, scalable experiences across platforms.
Key Skills & Experience Required:
- 8+ years in design systems, product design, or front-end platform roles.
- 5+ years managing design systems at scale across web and native platforms.
- Experience building React component libraries with accessibility and multi-brand support.
- Strong knowledge of governance, contribution models, and quality assurance.
- Expertise in WCAG 2.2 and inclusive design practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in agile delivery environments.
- Ability to lead teams and influence strategic decisions.
